ENERGY SAVING SCHEME
Carrington Electrical Services has partnered with Accredited Certificate Providers to provide the Energy Saving Scheme (ESS).
The Energy Savings Scheme began 1 July 2009 and is part of the NSW Government's plan to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 60% by 2050. It is legislated to continue until 2025 or until a National Scheme is introduced.
It reduces electricity consumption in NSW by creating financial incentives for organisations to invest in energy savings projects. Energy savings are achieved by installing, improving or replacing energy savings equipment.
The ESS is governed by NSW legislation. It places a mandatory obligation on Liable Entities to obtain and surrender energy savings certificates, which represent energy savings. The development of the policy framework is the responsibility of the Office of Environment and Heritage and the Department of Trade and Investment, Regional Infrastructure and Services.
The agreed value of the Energy Savings Certificates (ESC) is returned to the business that generates them as either a discount of their energy upgrade or an agreed value after the creation of the ESC has occurred.
The Scheme is administered and regulated by IPART (Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal).
